At the age of 41, Jeff faced some major health issues . It was then he decided to take control of his health and fitness. After losing over 100 pounds through proper diet and fitness, he saw life through a different lens and thus discovered his love for running. This love pushed him to learn as much as he could about this sport to not only better his life, but have the knowledge and opportunities to help others improve their lives. Soon, he began his journey to becoming a coach and through his courses earned a Road Runner’s Club of America Level II Coaching Certification.
Early in Jeff's running journey, he was introduced to trail and ultrarunning where his passion only grew. He attended, taught and hosted trail running clinics around the Southern United States. Jeff also has experience running many ultra-marathons, including the Arkansas Traveller 100, which has further cultivated his new found path in running and coaching. In addition to the trail running clinics, Jeff has worked in the running industry and coached both individuals and groups since 2018.
When Jeff is not running or coaching, he enjoys reading and spending time outdoors.

Johanna Butler
I have been running since I was a kid and what started as a journey to be a fast 400m runner led down to the roads of the marathon. I am an elite marathon runner and 2-time Olympic Trials Qualifier with a personal best of 2:36:19, which I ran in Chicago 2023, 14 months after giving birth to my precious baby girl, Lucy. I specialize with runners who are under-fueling, as I am a sports nutritionist, and love helping runners build confidence and love their journey. I’m here to help inspire the next generation of female athletes to pursue dreams they never thought possible.

Why Do Running Injuries Occur?

Research shows over 50% of runners will suffer from a pain or injury this year. Some research indicates that number is as high as 75%! Common injuries include, but definitely not limited to:
  • IT band syndrome
  • patellar
  • Tendonitis/Runner’s Knee
  • Hamstring/quad/calf strain
  • Stress fractures
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Plantar fasciits
  • And countless more
Each of these injuries come with a different set of pains and problems, but all can put a stop to your running!
Musculoskeletal injuries from running can be caused by:
  • Improper mileage management
  • Poor shoe management
  • Leg length discrepancy
  • Muscular imbalance
  • Pelvic anomalies
  • Restrictive tissue
  • Weakness
  • Improper firing pattern of musculature
Unfortunately, with injury rates being so high, injuries and time off are often a part of the game, but it doesn’t have to be! Injury prevention and remaining proactive in your health is vital in keeping your running shoes on the ground.
